DRAVYAGUNA VIGYANA
INTRODUCTION:
Dravyaguna is an integral part of Ayurveda, which deals comprehensively about Rasa, Guna Virya, Vipaka and Prabhava (pharmacokinetics and pharmcodynamics) of herbs. Branch also deals with identification, collection, storage, and preservation of raw materials of plant origin. At Bhagwant Ayurvedic Collage and Bhagwant Hospital, Muzaffarnagar, U.P department has very well established laboratory, herbal garden with about 200 species of plants. Department works with objectives to provide knowledge of fundamental principles of Dravyaguna, drug action as per Ayurveda and conventional system of medicine.
Department conducts practical classes for the students for plant identification, sampling techniques, pharmacognostic studies and herbarium preparation techniques.
To enhance the field identification knowledge field visits are organised by the department.
VISION:
- To provide teaching facilities to the students by which they can understand classical and contemporary areas relevant to Dravyaguna in a better way.
- To develop crude drug repository.
- To develop medicinal plant garden.
- To provide training facility to students of plant identification by education.
MISSION:
- To provide quality education of Dravyaguna to the students.
- Development of Crude drug repository by raw drug collection from local and field visits.
- To enhance medicinal plant species in herbal garden.
